making a "green spot" "clock house"...

Post by Howard »

good afternoon to all...

it's almost june...and time for a new project...this time it's going to be a "clock house"...here's a link to the history page on ted's site...http://www.cardboardchristmas.com/papat ... enage.html...scroll down to the "green spots" category...then scroll to the "clock house" section...

the image below shows the vintage original and the major parts cut out and ready to assemble...i'll post patterns for the parts, some details and construction photos in a day or so...

i guess it goes without saying...but...as usual...my "little glitter house version" will be similar...not a 100% perfect copy...

my very best regards...howard...

Can't wait to see it Howard. Are you going to use any coconut on the roof top?

good afternoon...

it's been a productive day...body of house assembled...and two pattern sheets drawn...see below...

the base, fence and luffah tree are next on the to-do list...also going to decide on what "flattie" to make...

"will"...probably no coconut...just my "old standbys"...craft paint, clear glitter with a little mica and snow-tex highlights...

my very best regards...howard...

good morning...

progress...base measures 4" x 7" x 3/4" thick...overall height (including base) is 4 3/4"...fence is 3/4" tall...1" tall x 5/16" diameter wood dowel posts extend 5/8" into base...the tree is next...

note...the short focal length of the iphone lens makes the roof look slanted to the right...it is actually straight...

Looking great so far Howard. What's your method on cutting out such a nice fence? It looks like it's die cut. :)

Cheers,

Howard,

The greenspot clock house is looking good. It is a beautiful, classic putz design.

I agree with Will the fence looks die cut. In order for me to make a fence like that, I search scrapbooking sites until I find a die that mimics that design, then I buy it. That's the only way I can make decent fences.

I look forward to seeing the finished house.

good afternoon...

the clock house will be headed to the paint shop soon...but in the meantime...

i knew i needed a "flattie" or two for this project...a forum member suggested i look on antionette's site at her christmas 2011 mantel...here's a link...http://antoinettestockenberg.com/LargeMantel11_03.htm...and there they were...a group of men "conducting some kind of business" in front of a vintage clock house... i hope antoinette won't mind too much if if borrow her display idea...

note...mine are not exact copies of hers...i searched google images...found many that i liked and finally decided on these three poses...here are the patterns, how i might paint mine and a progress pix...i've got a little more detailing to do on them...then they'll be ready for painting...

my very best regards...howard...
