father christmas and the yule log...

Post by Howard »

Here is a “putz-type” project I’ve assembled from different pieces…

The Yule log, sled and Father Christmas came into my possession quite unexpectedly last week…you have absolutely no idea how excited I was when I opened the package!…

I found the caribou at Michael’s…but it looked “too new“…then I remembered a tip Maria posted…add a glaze of diluted brown craft paint…it worked!…compare the “before” and “after” pix…it “aged” the finish perfectly…I recommend a gentle washing of the figurine with soap and water prior to adding the glaze to remove any surface film from the molding process…

I used a string from a piece of brown burlap for the reins…the base is laminated, corrugated cardboard and measures 3 ½” x 11 ½” x ½” thick…

The piece is finished for now…until I find just the right elf to perch on the top of the log…

My very best regards…

Howard…

good afternoon...

after looking for months, i finally found the "little elf" to finish this yule log project...

love those church thrift stores...he cost me 25-cents!... :D ...

i did give him a coat of clear satin spray to take away the original high gloss finish...

will probably add a little more glitter and mica flakes around his feet...

Merry Christmas to all...
