New printer

Post by PutzinVT »

So I'm always looking for ways to speeding up my house building.

When my old HP inkjet died I took the plunge and bought a laser printer.

This ones a Brother HL-31C. The cool feature is an optional straight paper path.

I've been laying up my patterns in a shareware CAD program.
But the real cool part is now I can print right to the cereal box cardboard.

This eliminates making a pattern, then cutting that out. Then tracing to the cardboard. Then cutting that out.
It seem to help me with pattern creep.

I've been making some of my ornament sized birdhouses.

As seen here.

Here's an example of pattern to cut out house, ready to fold and glue.

Now if I could afford one of those x-y plotter cutters that can handle cereal box weight cardboard, I'd be set. :-)

I have a hacked Cricket that will cut card stock but nothing much heavier. Would be nice. Thanks for sharing.
