good afternoon to all...

i've started a new project that was inspired by the may 2004 house on ted’s site…see the small picture of the vintage house below…here's a link...you'll have to scroll down to the may section...

http://www.cardboardchristmas.com/papateds/Hom2004.html

my version is not an exact copy...it will be smaller than the original…i've also "reversed" the layout...the base measures 4” x 6” x ¾” thick…overall height, including the base, is 5 3/4”…see the large picture below...

the porch, columns, balcony and steps are in the works...i also have to make the raffia fence and a tree...more pictures and patterns for the major parts will be posted in a few days...

my very best regards…howard…

I love how the facade of the main building looks like the face of a surprised person!

Interesting observation. And you are right. Hadn't really looked at it that way. 8-) ...

Just a few notes about some of the detail parts…

I still have to add color to the luffah tree and trunk...also the raffia fence…window panels have been made, pre-fitted and are ready to install…

The porch base, step and balcony ceiling are laminated from thin corrugated cardboard from a recycled priority mailing box…I edge banded the base and step with card stock…columns are wooden candy apple sticks…heavy duty poster board was used for the balcony railing…

Now the fun part…primer, paint, glitter and final assembly…more pictures later…

My very best regards…Howard…

Are you doing this in glitter or coco?

I'm going to use coconut I think...but I'll have to do a test and see if my homemade coconut particles are fine enough...and if I have the right colors...My very best regards...Howard...

Love it Howard... How do you attach the raffia fence to the fence posts?
Just lots of glue? Debbie W

I use Aleene's Original Tacky Glue 99% of the time...appy a moderate coat on all edges and surfaces where the fence meets the base and post...smooth out any blobs of glue with a small brush...note...I won't glue the fence to the base until everything is primed and painted...the thinner Hobby Lobby white glue I use to apply the glitter also reinforces the glue joints...hope this helps...Howard...
