I finally found some time to try my next putz project. So many choices but I decided to replicate our local lighthouse and the keeper's house. This is an arial picture of them and I've also included a pic of the house and base after I primed them. Pictures of the finished house and light should be up tomorrow. Laurie

Thanks Howard, but I have a long way to go. Maybe by house 20 I'll have it down. I study your drawings and procedures and they're helping me a lot. Now, if I could just figure out a good way to photograph these houses. Background? Flash or no flash? What angle and how close? It's a process in progress. Or is it progress in process? Anyway, here are the pictures. The house was pretty straight forward after I figured out the porch, but the lighthouse took a lot of finagling. I couldn't see how to paint those diamonds on the cardboard, so I ended up wrapping it in paper after I painted it.
I used your idea of adding a fake tea light which worked out well. The top lifts off and I used a push pin for the lid. I used vellum for the windows for a soft glow, but may change to clear acetate if I can find some.

i'm very impressed...you did a terrific job...by the way...colored paper wrapped on areas that are difficult to paint...i do it...it works...you always get crisp, clean lines just where you want them...some things are just to detailed to get any other way...

Oh! It's stunning... Love the small touch of greenery at the bases.
What did you use to make the stripes on the windows? It looks so tiny?

That is so beautiful. So many nice details that clearly were not easy to do. I love the texture on the roof, the greenery, the tiny window stripping, the diamonds on the lighthouse, etc. Every time I look at it I see another things that makes me go - wow! I did my first porch recently, it is hard to figure out how to support the porch roof. I think your way is looks more secure than mine.
