mini-size "loggie" putz...

good afternoon...

a project i just completed...you can tell the size by the quarter...

wall and roof material is single-face cardboard from scrap book department of craft store...

door is part of one side of a small printed paper door...i left off the top arch...but you can't tell from the photo...

windows are cream color craft paper with mullions drawn with a pen...

what may look like "coconut" on the base is actually dyed sawdust...a hold over from my model railroading days...

Love it, Howard. (You know I'm partial to log cabins.) And how tiny it is. I've idly thought about dying sawdust. Yours looks great. What did you use to color it?

coloring sawdust...

use ordinary craft paint diluted with water...put sawdust in foot of an old nylon stocking...soak in diluted paint overnight...(wear disposable gloves)...smuch and squeeze multiple times to get paint mixture to reach all sawdust...next day, squeeze as much diluted paint out of stocking pouch as possible...empty wet sawdust onto piece of window screen, spread out and let dry...may take a day or more...when throughly dry, scrape into paper bag for storage...you will probably find some lumps that you will have to break up with your hands...

to apply, use same white glue technique as applying mica or glitter...

you can buy pre-colored sawdust on-line...also, model railroad hobby shops sell as "ground cover scenery"...but i like to "make things more than buy things"...

Is the brick effect on the chimney painted or printed on paper an then wrapped.

It looks painted, but I want to make sure.

regarding bricks on chimeny...they're painted...the entire chimeny is painted "heritage brick" color...then i use two or three different "brick colors"...don't have to paint in every brick...really doesn't matter what the colors are either...
