Storing Flatties

Post by Lynn »

For a long time I’ve wanted to come up with a way to store all my flatties. I finally came up with an idea similar to how the original sets are stored. Now that I can organize them it is making putting them out and packing them away a whole lot easier.

I use a jewelry boxes, from Amazon, but I’m sure you can find them at other places, 1/4 inch foam board, white felt, and fabric tape.

Cut 3 pieces of foam board a bit smaller than the bottom of the box to allow space for the base of the flatties. Cut 4 pieces of felt the same size of the foam board.

First place 1 piece of the foam board in the box with 1 piece of the felt on top. Lay the flatties on top of the felt with the base of the flatties tucked between the foam board and the side of the box.

For the second layer add another piece of felt on top of the flatties. Place the fabric tape over the felt with the ends hanging outside of the box.

Add the second piece of foam board another piece of felt and your next layer of flatties.

Cover the flatties with last piece of felt. Now bring the fabric tape over the top.

Now when you need to get to the first layer gently pull up on the fabric tape to remove the top layer of flatties to access the ones on the bottom.

I added labels on my to make it easier to find what I am looking for.

Lynn,
That is an incredible storage method - beautifully organized. And the collection is impressive as well.
