making a limited run of the same glitter house...

Post by Howard »

Greetings to all…

(Disclaimer…I did not originate, develop or perfect all the techniques of this limited run of houses…I borrowed heavily from the works of other putz craftsman and some of the methods I used when making batches of wood toys and simple stringed musical instruments for about 30 years)…

Here are pix of a run of four little houses…I thought I try making more than one at a time to see how I like it…I’ll let you know after they are all finished…but I can say this…it’s more like a job…not as relaxing to me as making individual houses…

I think the keys are a precision plan, building a prototype in advance, making accurate templates for cutting out critical pieces and pre-painting as many individual parts before final assembly…

A pix of the finished “subdivision” will follow in a day or so…

My very best regards…

Howard…

Little boxes on the hillside, and they're all made out of ticky-tacky.
There's a white one, and a white one, and a white one just the same.

Cute, Howard, thanks for the photos.

Also anyone who knows the tune to the ditty above is automatically older than dirt. :-)

good afternoon...

finished the houses this morning...regarding making more than one at a time of the same house...it's really not for old howard...but had to try...not something i'm going to be doing on a regular basis...

the "house movers" are scheduled for tomorrow...have to pack and ship...one each to california, michigan, pennsylvania and virginia...they'll never be together again...

regarding the trolley...it's a one-of-a-kind, custom motorized unit made for me by two friends...just like the cardboard forum folks, there's a caring and helpful marx train group...we share projects, trade items and help each other...

have a pleasant afternoon...my very best regards...howard...

Hi Howard,
These houses are quite striking as a group. I too have thought about doing multiple houses of the same pattern but I think I will continue making each house unique. That is a big part of the fun for me.
