Good evening everyone,
Here is another picture of the villa. I have painted it a light tan and covered it with a very fine sand. The columns will be a soft grayish green and the roof will be terra cotta. I will also coat the house with the mica/glitter mixture. The picture also shows that the windows and door are test fitted. They are ready for installation at the proper time. I also trimmed one of the ubiquitous conifer trees into more of an Italian cypress shape. I am thinking of doing the yard in a more Mediterranean theme than Southwestern... Oh, and I will be lighting it with LEDs.

Re: Spanish Villa
Looking good...Right choice of trees...looking forward to more pictures, too...
(By the way...I see a classic design train station hiding in your design...three tall arched windows with columns...all it needs is a tower on left like the one on the right...one for departing and arriving trains)...
My very best regards...Howard

Looking good, Lee!
Re: Spanish Villa
Good morning.
Thank you for the encouragement. Howard, now that you mentioned it I can see a train station there... The tall windows remind me of the big station in Los Angeles.

Lee, the texture looks GREAT! I really like the door you decided to go with too. Can't wait to see more!
Re: Spanish Villa
Good morning,
My LEDs have arrived and I will soon be lighting this little house.
Howard, I know that you have worked with LEDs before, could you give me some advice as to how you keep the lights where you want them to be? I was going to use hot glue but the instructions that came with the lights said not to do that as the glue is too hot and will damage the LED.
I am trying tacky glue but I don't like the results.
Thanks,
L

Re: Spanish Villa
good morning...
here's how i mount LEDs...i'm sure there are other ways...but this works for me...i'll let the picture tell the story...see below...
note...i think i forgot to mention that you should order "warm white" LEDs...
you can also use "red", "yellow" or "orange"...but i would stay away from the "bright white" and the "blue" LEDs...
(i'm sorry i forgot to mention this in my previous post)...
my very best regards...howard...

Re: Spanish Villa
Good morning Howard,
Thank you, this is a great way to mount these little lights. I ordered the warm white as well as the red and I am going to use the red lights as I liked the glow it created. I also ordered some really tiny lights I am going to use to accent the arches if I can get them mounted the way I would like.

Re: Spanish Villa
I have finished lighting the villa. There are red LEDs inside and then tiny warm white LEDs that I was able to place at the top of each arch and over the doorway... If you look closely you will also see that I have placed a Christmas tree behind the middle window... I will work on the roof next as well as a chimney on the left side...
