Santa, sleigh and reindeer project…

Post by Howard »

I know…it’s not a house…but it’s still a piece that will go with my village…and I’ve always wanted one…

After collecting Christmas and Santa items from garage sales and thrift stores for several years…I finally decided to do something with them…it was really a simple project…

The Santa was probably from a vintage table centerpiece or Christmas floral arrangement...the sleigh was an ornament...the deer was from who knows what...I made the laminated cardboard "little glitter house" type base...the accessory pieces in the sleigh and the wreath on the deer are just craft store type items...they all just seem to fit together as one...

I thought I’d share it with the forum members…perhaps it will give you an idea of what can be done with some of the treasures you have tucked away…

My very best regards…

Howard

That looks great, Howard. But how did you get that little wreath over the reindeer's antlers?

wreath over the head of the deer?...i'd like to say it was magic...but there's no magic...

it's a standard craft store item...removed the bow, cut the wreath in one spot, put it around the neck and glue it back together with 5-minute epoxy...the wreath was held in place with blue painter's tape while the epoxy dries...after the epoxy dries, glue the bow back on where the glue joint was...

What brand of 5 minute epoxy are you using?

regarding epoxy...

i used "devcon"...sold by walmart...but there are other brands..."loctite" and "gorilla" for example...it comes as two tubes connected together side-by-side with a single plunger that is suposed to deliver equal amounts of the two parts...but doesn't always work the way it should...

i much prefer epoxy that is sold as two individual tubes...
