Thanks Howard. :) That time estimate is a rough guess. Some houses definitely take longer. That is also with everything ready go. For this next house, I had to put away my sewning machine because we had company this weekend. So I know I will be held up for a few days on this one before I can get it back out.
Since you guys seem interested, I took a few pics of how I use my patterns. I finished the red pattern up, printed it out, cut it out, traced it, cut out the cardboard, and glued together the main body of the house tonight. I was granted a little time while my wife and kid were outside. :) This all took about 45min. I have my putz'n box right next to my desk so all my supplies are ready when I need them. I'd take a pic of it, but all the little boxes are stacked on top of each other inside the big box, so it doesn't look like much. I do love thumbing through my coconut box now though, I have pretty much a whole rainbow of colors in there and it is very shiny.
Thanks for your interest, it's fun to share! :)
Hope everyone has a great night!
-Brian

Hello!

Got the Red House all ready for primer. I did forget the door step, which is being added before I prime. I may shoot it tonight if time permits.

Happy Trails!

Thanks Paul!! Got 'er all primed! I'm getting the machine out tonight, so hopefully I'll have a couple pieces of fence ready. Probably do a little painting tonight too. The order to which I paint... I always do any all white areas first like the base and the dog house. Then I'll probably do the green, followed by the red. Then I do the snow Coco last on the roof tops and fence/(base if its a different color). The red is such a vibrant color, I always try to do it as close to last as possible. It's much easier to control any stray pieces that stick out like a sore thumb if they get on any of the other colors. After each color dries I always shake off the extra coco, and I have several bags now of mixed colors. I have one bag that is a mix of Red, White, and Blue, that Im going to use on a repro of a Peach house that has the silver and blue windows when I get this set done.

Good Morning!! Hope you're all having a happy and peaceful Sunday!

I finished the Red House. I'm starting to get excited now that the set is only 1 house away from being complete. I'll be starting the Church pattern shortly. I'm going to do a little more scouting for photos of it. I found a few more on Teds site. I have some great head on views, but I'm going to see if I can wrangle up a few more other shots with different POV's.
On the red house, I did the fence similar to the Blue house, and I tinted it green with watercolors. After I'm done with this Church, I'm definitely going to find another way to go about getting green raffia. The watercolors bleed way too much, and I have to do a couple coats of coco to keep it bright white.
Thanks for looking!

Brian, use a permanent wide tip magic marker in green--or for that matter--any color. I had trouble with color bleeding on a project and went to permanent markers--no bleeding.

Looks great, Brian. I can't believe you've got all but one of these done now. This is a great advertisement for Pete's coconut, too.

So when people told you you were headed for Disappointment, they weren't kidding. :-)
