Good evening!
Got another one all ready for primer. This BIG boy took me a while! It has 28 windows, 2 port holes, 2 doors, slotted fence and balcony and a lighting hole. I REALLY need a punch...atleast for the slotted fence for sure! I'm out of trees, so I'll be having a tree making day soon.
This one also has a blue sand around the base of the house, I thought it was painted but the sand is actually blue. I was lucky to find out that Pete owns this original house and he gave me serveral demsions and close up pics.
This is the house that I recently made the little boy figure for. It also has a little bulldog and Tom Hull was nice enough to craft one of those for me and I just got it in the mail today!
Thanks Tom and Pete for your help! Can't wait to start painting!
Heres a link to the HOM on Ted's site...

Re: 30's Giant 2 Story Mansion and HOM May 2002
Maria, Radko must of certainly drawn inspiration from this original! They did a terrific job. I LOVE the giant Church in the background too...that thing looks HUGE!!
Well I got this one all finished today. It seemed to take me a while to get this one completed. I ran into a few hurtles after the primer was done.
The first was the light blue sand around the bottom of the house where it connects to the base. I looked everywhere for light blue sand, I found some on the net, but to get a good price they wanted me to order 6 or more bags. So I had to get a little creative. I took the white sand I normally use that is the proper grit and dyed it with food coloring and vinegar like an easter egg. I tried other dyes, like the stuff I use to make my coco with and it all just washed away....But FOOD COLORING stuck.
The second snag came when I went to put the door in. I thought the door was the large one of Ted's part numbers SO-1g or SO-1o but upon further inspection it was a completely different door. I'm beginning to think there are a endless variety of doors. So I scanned in a pic of Pete's original house and recreated the door. It is the same size and looks very similar to the SO-1g but the bottom panels are much wider as are the bars in the window frame.
I had a lot of fun doing this house. I really like using the little figures, Im going to have to find some more houses with to do with them.
Again, I'd like to thank Tom Hull for making the dog to accompany my little boy figure.
Hope everybody is having a terrific evening!

Another BEAUTY, Brian!!!! Hope we'll see them all in your village come December!!!!
Re: 30's Giant 2 Story Mansion and HOM May 2002
Seeing all the repros you've made in a large group would be way cool.
Re: 30's Giant 2 Story Mansion and HOM May 2002
Thank You SO SO MUCH!
Not sure what is up next, I have a couple I'm thinking about. I promised my wife I would clean up the work area before I start another one...so I better get to it.
I'm not sure how I'm going to display this year. I've got a decent collection of vintage pieces that I'm already out of room for and sadly some will have to stay in there box this year. Some are going in my daughter's room, it will be her first village. Need a bigger house.
Im just getting ready to paint a cat figure that Tom made for me, and my daughter has claimed that house. One of these days I want a store front for my business so I can do an awesome window display. I am planning on selling some of them too, I'll probably list them around Thanksgiving in my Etsy store.
I took a pic of all my houses as they are right now sitting next to me. It is every house I have done in the last year with the exception of the giant green pillar house with the car and Santa. I just sent that one on it's way to its new home/owner this morning...and I'm super happy, it is going to a really good home!
