Two Story Brian House in Memory of PapaTed
Two Story Brian House in Memory of PapaTed
I recently received this house that I bought from Brian Bloodgood and it is a stunner. It is so startling to see how bright and pretty it is compared to the very faded condition of so many of the old ones. It is like turning the clock back to 1933 and walking in to a dime store all over again. I know you all have seen it before but this I think is fitting to put up as my House of the Month in honor of Ted Althof. How could Ted have dreamed of what he started. This is SUCH a stunning recreation right down to the coconut and the wonderful little sculpted Santa. See Ted the beat DOES truly go on. I think he knew that it would and that his work in documenting these houses was going to be his legacy to us all. I am still amazed at how much he got right! It is really the first work on the subject of the little putz houses and so often first books on antique subjects have LOTS of silly poorly researched not well thought out holes in them but NOT in this one - I believe he truly got it right most of the time and what a blessing for us all that is. Merry Christmas sweet prince and good night and thank you, till we meet again!

More pictures. I like the fact that Santa can take the breeze on the balcony. Great touch Brian

Perfection itself. Take a bow, Brian. And Tom? You, too, for your lovely homage to Ted and to the artist.

Thank you so much Tom! I know I told you via email, but it was an honor to send you one of my houses. It could not have gone to a better home. Thank you for honoring Ted's memory with it too! There are so many things I have learned this year that I would have loved to share with him. I was lucky to work with Ted when I was digitally recreating some doors and windows for him. And now I have been SUPER lucky to work with Tom on mutiple projects! Thankfully we have an awesome forum to help carry the torch. Everybody here has been so kind and inspiring, and I'm so happy to read everything each person contributes.
Antoinette, Thank you so much too!
Here's to Ted, and here's to all the awesome people that make this hobby so much fun!
Cheers!
