barn-style house...sort of on the big size...

Post by Howard »

good afternoon to all...

here is one of several projects that have been in the works for quite a while...

i have just now completed most of the raw cardboard work...

the base still needs the cereal box cardboard edge band applied along with the paper cover and base plate...

there will be a white picket fence about 1" tall...

base measures 8" wide x 8 1/2" front to back x 3/4" thick...the house will be 7 1/4" tall including the chimney and base...

still many hours of detailing, painting, finishing and assembling...but these are the fun parts...

my very best regards...howard...

I really like the front pouch detail.

All you need are a couple of really small rocking chairs to go on it.

good evening...(again)...

for some reason...this pix and info did not attach to the previous message...probably "operator error"...(that would be "me")...

the house is the same on the left and right...except there is a bay window on the left side...

small dormer roofs will be added during final assembly after the dormer windows are installed...

the porch is a separate assembly...it's so much easier to prime, paint, glitter and assemble this way...

more pix later...

Oh Howard, this is simply marvelous! The architectural details are fantastic--I'd like to move in!

By the way everyone, we got a foot of snow today here in the Hudson Valley--it's switching over to rain and sleet tonight--then we are expecting another 5-6 inches of snow!

I have to tell you--while a lot of people were miserable--I was pretty happy. My guy got to work from home. I plugged in the big crabapple tree--which still has the lights on from Christmas--and yes, I felt pretty holiday-ish!

That's why it was quite a shock to see that the supermarket has put out....EASTER stuff!

good afternoon...

here is a picture of the completed base with the house foundation, walk and fence...

there is a section of heavy duty straight pin inserted in a small hole drilled in the bottom of ten of the fence pickets...

one at each corner, one at each end and one on each long side...these pins are held in place with epoxy cement...

there are corresponding holes in the base for the pins...

i'll epoxy the fence sections in place after they are primed and painted...

my very best regards...howard...

brian...

the fence is a craft item i bought online...this is the shortest height...1-inch...it came in a section about 15" to 18" long...i believe there are at least two different heights...also sold in a medium wood stain i believe...
