Windows

Post by Lynn »

I have a question about windows I was hoping someone may be able to help me with. I use vellum, mostly red depending on the house. But I got to thinking about cellophane windows. I use the cellophane windows from Papa Ted, but never made my own windows from sheet of cellophane in place of the vellum. I would love to hear what you use and where I could find cellophane suitable for making the windows. I have printed on vellum to make a door for a haunted house but now I want to make stained glass windows, is vellum still a good choice? Thanks so much!!

Yes vellum is a good choice. I also place a piece of cellophane tape over the window to make it extra strong so the light bulb doesn't accidentally pierce it.

I have a pdf of stained glass windows to print but it won't load up here--only jpeg files can be posted it seems. I cannot remember where I got it from. My email is mcudeque@yahoo.com

I'll be happy to send it if you like

BTW I have a friend who uses colored tissue paper with wide piece of tape taped over it front and back-the tissue paper is very translucent and warm when back-lit

I have used color-laser on laser-safe overhead projector slide material and on vellum. I've also used inkjet on vellum.

The color laser printout seems to fade less, but if you're only setting them out at Christmas, you should be fine with either.

My stained glass window pattern is on my resource page:

The files are pretty large because they're designed for bigger buildings, but you should be able to resize them as necessary within MS Word if nothing else.

Here's a "thumbnail" of the stained glass window pattern:

Here's an interesting note: The Stained Glass pattern (which I adopted from some 20-year old Corel clipart) is the reason Howard and I know each other - years ago he sent me a photo of a church he made using the stained glass pattern. That church was still featured on his web page not long ago - you can probably find it if you look carefully.
