good morning...
i've made a few castles with this same look before...but not one quite this big...base measures 5" x 7 1/2" x 3/4" thick...castle is almost 8" tall including base...
it may look complicated...but it's really not...the body is just a box...there are two cardboard tubes...and two rolled cardboard cones...the trim is small flute single-face cardboard...the fence has the same cutouts as the top of the castle walls...
the only slightly tricky part is cutting the slits in the tower and the body walls where they join...it's called a finger joint...you can see the slits on the upper part of the body and lower part of the tower...the light hole in body at the corner and in the tower can also be seen...
there are still a few details to add...may change the look of the large cone roof...castle will probably get a textured finish of craft sand and bird cage gravel...colors?...not finalized...
my very best regards...howard

Re: castle project...
You know, Howard, not very many putz houses with turrets or towers had holes to let the lights shine through the turret - that's why we see so many that look like they've had a hole hacked in them by someone wielding a Xacto knife through the light hole.
Are you sure you're not cheating by thinking this through ahead of time?
Looks GREAT!
Looks GREAT!
Re: castle project...
That's why we like Howard's houses so much--he puts a lot of thought into them ahead of time. I, on the other hand, just start, then throw away, then start again, then figure I'd better do some thinking/planning. How much better it would go if I did it Howard's way!
Re: castle project...
Yes it needs a dragon
or a knight
or....
a damsel in distress!

Re: castle project...
good morning to all...
the castle is finished...may add a touch of snow-tex to the snow on the peaks...was going to be a different color scheme...but changed in mid-stream...the gray, red and green with natural sisal trees just didn't look right...
my very best regards...howard...

Re: castle project...
Two words.
Mind
Blowing
How do you do it?
Although I was hoping for a dragon.
