This is a REALLY forced perspective cardboard model

If you have an unusual piece that you have questions about, this is the place to post them. Photos are VERY welcome, though it helps if you reduce them to 800 wide before you upload them. If you can't reduce them yourself, post them anyway and I'll try to reduce them when I have time.

This is a REALLY forced perspective cardboard model

Post by DCrowe »

I still have some mental blockages about perspective, especially forced perspective, due almost entirely to a very poor instructor at Georgia Tech when I was a first quarter freshman. Never once did he explain what we were supposed to accomplish in classroom and homework exercises, rather just what to do on the exams. He took something that should be (I think) intuitive and made it impossible.

But rant aside, check out ebay item number 111404240867. It is the strangest cardboard architectural model I have ever seen. I see what they were trying to accomplish, but a wall hanging is just not a natural habitat for a 3D model.

Ok....I have to agree here...I appreciate the amount of work which must have gone into its execution but....it's kind of lifeless--and as a wall hanging....well, even more so.

For folks who can't get to the ebay photo, it's done with paper and cardboard and other perishable materials. At first glance, I thought it was one of those molded faux-3d things you see done in plaster or resin.
