Making a "flat cardboard horse and sled"...

What kind of figures have been used with cardboard Christmas houses and villages, where do you get appropriate figures today, how do you make, prepair, repair or otherwise maintain figures?

Making a "flat cardboard horse and sled"...

Post by Howard »

good evening to all...

here's the next "flattie"...patterns for the pieces are below...a painting diagram will be posted after this brief overview...

the steps in making the "horse and sled" are identical to the "snowman flattie" in a prior post...there are just more pieces...

here's the link to the "snowman"...

http://www.cardboardchristmas.com/forum ... f=14&t=782

later this week i'll post pictures of the technique and tools used to cut out the openings...like around the legs on the horse...it's not as difficult as it may look...

my very best regards...howard...

Hi Howard--how wonderful!

in the meantime, deer and tree silhouette die-cut
I found these, 3 and 3/4 inches long--
I will be working on these when they arrive

greetings to all...

tools i use...+3.0 magnifying reading glasses...sharp xacto knife...sharp push pin or sharp point tool...(the one shown is nothing but a large needle in a wooden handle)...

this is just like making the "snowman"...except it just takes much longer to cut out the pieces...

glue patterns to the cardboard...

define the inside corners ...go to this link first to see the how and the why...

http://www.cardboardchristmas.com/forum ... ?f=4&t=553

cut out the pieces and the openings...

more later...

my very best regards...howard...

good morning...

assembly complete...ready for primer and finish...i may glue on a few more cut out details like an ear on the horse and a few branches on the tree...the base is a cigar shape piece of cardboard with braces of 1/8" x 1/8" strips of craft wood on each side of the cut out profile...

the "rein" is a length of small wire paper clip...it will be painted separately and installed later...i'll also add a glitter and mica flakes to the base...

my very best regards...howard...

Very nice job I really like the added pieces. Possible some skaters or maybe a couple taking a stroll?
