Making a "flat cardboard shepherd and sheep"...

Good afternoon…

Here’s the next “flattie”…a “shepherd and sheep“…not a nativity look…more of a rural farmer…guess that means I’ll have to make a new barn soon…

The shepherd’s staff will be paper clip wire…I’ll probably add details like a hat brim, arm, etc…to add a little depth and create shadows…

The base will be made like the previous “sled, horse, driver and Christmas tree flattie”…just a cigar shape piece of cardboard with thin wood braces…

Since the sheep will be almost knee deep in snow…I’m not going to cut out individual legs…just paint them in against a white background…

Let’s see…after this?…only 9 more to make before Christmas…

good afternoon...

getting ready to hot glue onto a painting handle...followed by a few light coats of gray spray primer...then painting...

i added a few details as you can see the photo...these small pieces give depth and create shadows...

Yes--they call it 3-d collage!
I found a company in the uk that sells kits!

good morning to all...

this turned into an "adventure in painting"...the sheep were the hardest...especially the faces...and i still have one that looks more like a dog...the one to the right of the shepherd...

the magic of a couple of coats of high gloss clear spray really does change the look of ordinary cardboard and craft paint...

what's the next flattie?...not really sure...i'm still looking for the right subject...

Wow this is a wonderful piece! You would never know these figures are cardboard. It's great to see all the pictures.
