Very nice Howard. I am especially impressed with the window mullions. That's very exacting work.

Steve…

Guess I should have described as a “sand finish” rather than “birdcage gravel”…you can use actual “birdcage gravel” from the pet supply store…“kid’s play sand” or “builders sand” from the home/hardware store…I pass it through a sifter to get out the really large chunks…

The above products are coarser and have a more random texture than “craft store sand”…

I mix white glue in the primer and sprinkle on the “sand” with an old salt shaker…sometimes a couple of coats of primer and sand to get the finish I want…then it’s on to craft paint, a blush of mica flakes and glitter in selected areas and “Snow-Tex” highlights…

Hope this makes sense…my very best regards…Howard…

Just got back from a short trip. Howard, that church is great, and a great tribute to the original. Thanks as always for sharing.

Laurie, if you have a craft cutter like a Silhouette that you can drive with a computer, I have some tips on making those windows here:

I'm told the new Cricut will work from a computer but I'm doing fine with the one I hacked way back when. Plus I don't trust them, after they crippled their old ones to take that option away - who knows what the next "mandatory firmware update" will do?

Paul,
Thanks for the tip on the craft cutter, but alas, I had to look up what exactly a craft cutter was, as all I'm familiar with is the ol' X-acto knife cutter. The article was informative though, but I'm still back in the dark ages.

Howard, your padre is looking good.
