So I built a min size house. One I've built before, to test out a coating I've
been experimenting with.
It's far from coconut. But I was looking for something that was not sand.
Best part is you can make it any color.
Tell me if it looks ok, or I should scrap the coating altogether.

Re: Coating experiment
Steve, I think it looks GREAT! A wonderful little house. It has a nice warm and fuzzy feeling, it's a nice alternative to coco! The snow is nice and fluffy as well. LOVE your little snowman!!!
Re: Coating experiment
I really love the texture of this! What is it??
Re: Coating experiment
Well. The fluffy snow and the coating on the house are the same.
One is just a finer version.
I'll try to make up some instructions.
Stay tuned.

Re: Coating experiment
there's a product out there called Flower Soft--this is very reminiscent of it to me--anyway the real product is quite expensive and so someone came up with an alternative. Check out this video

Re: Coating experiment
Your getting close.
It's my take on that with a few changes.
Will share in a bit when I can sit down and write something up.
And it's pretty inexpensive.
More time than money.

Re: Coating experiment
Will:
It starts with styrofoam. At first balls and cut them up.
Then in to an old electric coffee grinder.
Grind them to a granular powder.
After that I found a styrofoam in flake form. This grinder easier.
I then wet it a bit and add some paint.
Lots of colors to choose from.
I let that air dry and then run it thru the grinder one more time to make it a uniform finer size.
You put it on like glitter.
