I love this Dolly house.

Paul, I second the request for Dolly windows and doors. They are really cool.

Lynn, did you use chipboard for the base? If I use one layer of cardboard as a base it curls up and won't stay flat. I am wondering if chipboard or maybe mat board will be better.

Also why do you use mica? Is it because it is historically accurate? I used some Diamond dust recently on one of my houses which looks wonderful, but I am concerned about it being dangerous because it's tiny glass shards. And finally, where do you get mica? I've seen 2 sources online - Meyer's imports and Blumchen. Do they stock the right kind?

Thank you for showing us this Dolly reproduction. It's great. Lucy

Hello Lucy I had an old package left over when dad used to scatter it all over our packages until mom wanted him to cease and desist because it was a PAIN to clean up. What I did was to sift it through old fashioned strainers. One had a coarse screen which made it about right. Yes the original dolly toys used mica NOT glass glitter. However many of the Japanese houses used a glass glitter however I have found the glass glitter called diamond dust is too fine and often disappears into the paint or glue as it were. I have an old original bottle of Patrica glass glitter with a shaker top (convenient) and it is about the right size. Hopefully I will be able to locate a modern source of glitter that is the right size. I think this glass glitter is what was left over from when mom made glow candles back in the 1950's. Tom

The Dolly houses and church from this set are finished, except for Santa. I did see two other houses that could have been part of a set like this and a church with a rosette window. These three will make a complete village of ten. I just can’t help myself from making these extra three.
The first 2 you see are the same house, one has a bay window with a chimney and the second has a fancy window. The bay window house is 3 ½ inches tall and the base is 6 X 3 inches. The second one is 3 ¼ inches tall and the base is 5 X 3 inches.
This third house it the Twin Peaks. This house stands 3 inches tall and the base is 5 X 3 inches.

Wow, you've been busy lady. The houses look great. Looks like a run on red, and your bay window house turned out well too. I'll enjoy seeing the whole set together.
