Here is my latest house. Not quite done yet. I think it kind of looks like a dust bowl era house.

Re: Hip Roof Farmhouse
Another winner! You are incredible with varying finishes, Lucy.
Re: Hip Roof Farmhouse
Here is the finished house. I glued some moss around the fence line to look like tumbleweeds. The back view shows the fence a little better. I "rusted" it with brown and orange alcohol ink and some orange and brown rust paste. The stones leading to the doorway are made from cardboard from the kitty litter container - it's much like egg carton cardboard.

Oh, yes...another spooky dwelling!...but very "family friendly"...I especially like the crackled finish on the siding...did you use craft paint over white glue or a crackle paint?...

Re: Hip Roof Farmhouse
Howard,
The siding was made from leftover siding of other houses. So it was a mix of materials. I think the most crackled pieces of siding are crackle paint that I've used up.
I have done the white glue for a crackle surface, but it didn't make the tiny cracks that I like. Some of the siding may be left over from that as well. I think I had to do 2 layers of glue to get smaller crackles (base color, glue, white paint, glue, white paint). I've also used a crackle medium and then paint over it with white paint. Still experimenting with the easiest way to get crackles.
Here is a photo of my box of leftover pieces that I use when needed.
Thank you, everybody, for your kind comments. I'm working on a Halloween house based on one of the Dolly patterns. Probably post it tomorrow.

Re: Hip Roof Farmhouse
Nice selection of left overs Lucy! I do the same thing with my excess cuttings when using my cutting dies. You never know what you'll use them for!
