Making a "St. Nicholas" flattie...

What kind of figures have been used with cardboard Christmas houses and villages, where do you get appropriate figures today, how do you make, prepair, repair or otherwise maintain figures?

Making a "St. Nicholas" flattie...

Post by Howard »

Greetings to all...

Here's a flattie project I just had to build...I found the inspiration while researching another more complex flattie I'm going to build next year...(Thanks, Barb and OKPat!)...

He's made just like the other two dozen or so flattie projects I've posted...a body made up of different layers of heavy duty poster board, details like the staff (crozier) made from a small paperclip and a cardboard base with two matchstick braces...I'll probably have to add a wire base to the back for strength...

The vestments will be a regal red and very light ivory with gold trim...I'll probably do the crozier in a metallic bronze for contrast with the sugar fine glass glitter on the base...

Construction pictures and more details later...

Merry Christmas...

Howard...

I think this is a great design for a flattie. I look forward to seeing St. Nicholas in his completed version.

Barb...i used fine point needle nose pliers to bend and shape the "curlicue"...it took a couple of tries to get the shape right...
you're right...i'm not shoveling snow here...the ac is still running almost daily here in florida...

Another masterpiece Howard. Goes well with the church.

My bifocal aided eye would not have fun painting those little details.
