Looking VERY good, Howard. When we watch Downton Abbey, Shelia (a former costumer) gasps over the clothes, but I gasp over the CARS. Can't wait to see yours.

here are the lighting parts for the abbey...they'll be assembled after the outside of the panel is finished to match the rest of the project...

the panel and shelf/box thing are cardboard, craftwood and thin plywood...the on/off switch was leftover from a previous project...a strip of velcro will secure the battery in place...

the seven "warm white" color 5mm LED lights and 9-volt batter snap-on are from wwwModelTrainSoftware.com

i'll post a picture of the assembled lighting unit later...

my very best regards...howard...

finished the LED lighting package...the direction the light shines is adjustable just by bending the wires upon which they're mounted...surfaces inside the walls, ceilings and towers will be white to reflect as much light as possible...

This project is quite involved, and so much detail. Howard, you must have a lot of patience. You are an inspiration.

good morning...

i've started adding the sand texture finish...and the painting has started...there will be a contrasting, darker sepia accent color added to the top of the base post caps and the trim details on the abbey...the roof will probably a gray with a slight hint of green...

note...the lighting in the shop this morning may have distorted the finish color...the picture of the finish on the posts on the base is actually closer to the right color...

my very best regards...howard...

Great job so far Howard. I love that "sand" texture!

Boy. I'd hate to be the person who needs to install all those windows. :-)

Oh, the window installation is easy!...I'll post a pix of the windows later tonight or tomorrow...Steve, YOU will recognize the method at once...

Seriously...Steve, I'm using your method...red acetate, 1/32" wide gold tape and white cardboard...all the windows have already been measured, made and test fitted...when the time comes all I have to do is glue in a panel...with multiple windows going in place at the same time...

When I post the pix I'll also link it to the original how-to article...

My very best regards...Howard...
