Grain Elevator House Restoration and Repro Jan 2004 HOM

Pete, Good to see you on the forum, and MERRY CHRISTMAS to you!!!

I didn't know the base was silver/grey, I thought from pics it was white on top of blue. I may have to rethink it a bit.

There is remenents of the blue paint around the base of my house that I am going to match paint to, but the coco is too little to tell, and pretty much looks blue. I haven't attempted to make any silver/grey coco yet, but may have to give it a whirl. I used your silver/grey on my Rainbow house, and it look FANTASTIC!!!
You won't believe it but I stumbled on to an exact match with pink on my first batch by accident. I colored a batch of raw material and it came out this really dark pink magenta, and then I used a product that is meant to remove color from things, it didn't remove all the color like I thought it would and the result was an exact match. I didn't know how close it was until I got my original in the mail. I made the first batch up for the Green Petit Four house I did, which is cool cause both of my repros should match. I'm pretty sure I have enough left over for this house. I don't need any for my original the coco is still pretty decent but will need it for the repro. So hopefully I can repeat the process if need be.

Hello!

Got the potted plant all done. I decided to give everybody a sneak peak.

I also decided to put the rest of the restoration on hold until I can make the grey/silver coco. I have a few ideas of how to pull it off. I've made a few shades of the dark grey before for the little black(dark grey) coco house with a snowman that I did. Hopefully it wont take me tooo long!
Heres a pic of all the colors of coco I've made, give or take a few that were used up on houses. It took me a while to get the flake size down, but I finally have it!

No problem, the whole tree and pot is just under 3 inches tall. The pot itself is about 7/8 tall x 1-1/8 wide. I made a pattern for the pot so I could do another one, because trimming down the cone to be even was kind of a pain. I'm going to test it out, and then I'll post it here so you can use it or use it for reference if you want. Will try to have it up after Christmas.

MERRY CHRISTMAS FORUM FRIENDS!!!!

I had sometime inbetween holiday festivites, so I thought I would post my latest progress.
I finished up the construction on the GE House repro. I also got my second planter made, still have to put the loofha and berrys on it. I photographed all the steps and hope to have a tutorial along with the pattern up soon.
My next steps are to primer the repro and make the silver/grey coco for both the base on the new and old one, which I hope to be doing tomorrow.

Hope everybody has a wonderful day! I have already eaten my fair shair of cookies and its not even noon yet....

Brian, I have watched your work over the past few months and you have really mastered the process of building from scratch. I can't wait to see the end result of this project. I want it…….

Tom, I wish I had seen this listing too. I would have bought it and sent it to you to restore! LOL… You are my go to guy for help!

Thank you Paul and Janet!!! Very kind of you to say!!!
A quick note, all my repros are for sale.

I will say this though, it is hard letting them go! I just gave my repro of my "Tenth Ave Angel" house to one of my very best friends for Christmas. Thankfully she said I can come over and see it anytime I want! I now have to make another one to complete the set.

I put the finishing touches on my restore and repro tonight. As usual I learned a lot of new stuff building and fixing up this house. This one is right up there with my favorite builds. Not just because it's a neat house, but because it presented so many challenges.
I think I got the silver coconut down, this one required some thinking, and took a few days to figure out. The silver is sooo cool, I hope to use it again, it has the normal coco sparkle, but then you add metallic silver into the mix and you have something really special!
The tinfoil was tricky to work with too!

The first pic is a side by side of my restore and my repro. The last two are just of the repro. You can really see how faded the coco is on my original. I'm taking my village down the day after New Years so I'll have to wait till next year to add it....CANT WAIT!!!
