You know the more I look at the "Folly" design, the more I can see it being suitable for all the holidays---Easter, valentine's Day, St. Patty's..........

Hi Steve,

I used Terra Texture Flakes from Meyer Imports #311-0741. I do have to tell you the new stock is not the same shade of green as the one I used for this house, but nice just the same.

I wasn't going to post my "secret formula" for ground cover since I didn't want to take away from the many very good commercial products that are available...but...

Speaking of ground cover…here’s an old model railroad scenic formula for homemade ground cover…it’s not rocket science so the amount if each ingredient isn’t critical…just vary the amount of each material to get the color you want...see the picture below...(excuse the few flakes of glitter on the ground cover...glitter flakes seem to magically transfer during storage)...

Dyed sawdust plus some natural color sawdust…I dye sawdust with diluted craft paint…green, brown and orange…

Dried leaves and/or grass clippings…

A bit of backyard or flowerbed dirt…

Dump it all into a blender and blend away…

Sift blended mix thru a coarse screen flour sifter or piece of window screen to cull out the larger pieces…

Apply like glitter…

You can also gently mist selected areas with spray paint...dark green or camouflage green, brown, yellow or orange...to highlight and soften an area like a walk or create more contrast...

You know me…I make it or re-purpose it…only buy if I have too…

Howard…

This looks really nice, I have made some with just sawdust painted different shades of green and brown. Next time I'm going to try adding some more to the mix!!
