Start of the 2016 Halloween season

I'm planning on being out of town in October and November so I am starting on my Christmas and Halloween houses now. Here is the first of the lot. I call it the Spooky Abandoned Farmhouse. It is a relatively simple design that I modified from my custom die. I just cut off one of the front gables and glued the sides on. I also made the base a little smaller than usual. That made the fencing much easier.

I like the purple windows. Do you hand cut them?

No, I am not a fan of hand cutting anything, though I am using the Howard pin method for precision cutting at this moment. I found a die when I first started making little houses that had some great window frames. It's the holiday house from Elizabeth Craft Designs (
https://www.elizabethcraftdesigns.com/p ... -house-918). I don't use anything else from that set, but I love the windows. I use them on almost all of my houses. I cut the window itself out with one of Pete's window dies and then I use these windows as frames either on the inside or outside. Luckily they fit perfectly either way.

Very nice Halloween house, the cobwebs are a great touch and I live the way you finished the roof, the are great colors.
It never to earn for Halloween houses

Lucy...
Nothing like an early start...but projects with lots of details, like yours, do take time...I know I'm looking forward to see what else you'll be building...
My very best regards...Howard...

Here is another Halloween piece, but it's an owl house I made out of a cardboard box (to look like a book and then to look like a tree within the book). There is a hole in the back of the "book" for a light which makes the owl's eyes light up.
I've already started on the witch's lair as my next house. Howard keeps coming up with more details that are incredible so it's hard to keep up.

WHO doesn't like owls?...nice bark texture...I've got to try your book idea...and bark texture, too..if you don't mind...
Hard to keep up?...I'm not trying to run a race...

let's just continue to create and enjoy the process...
the last serious running I did was over 50 years ago in the US army...that was more than enough for me!...

When I said I was trying to keep up, I didn't mean to make it sound like a race. I was just trying to follow along with the witch's lair because it's a great project.
I haven't run in a long time either. I wish I could, but the knees would seriously rebel so I have to be content with the walking and the bike.
