PUTZ HOUSE REPLACEMENT FIGURES

Hello fellow hobbyist's. Here's my latest project for Putzing. I can't tell you how many of my houses are missing it's figure weather it's a Santa, Dog, Little Girl etc. I know our good friend Tom has impressed us all with his mold making experiments and finished pieces. A lot of the processes for producing replacement figures is time consuming and maybe not exacting. I started investigating mold making when I remembered that I have a friend that is a nationally revered Sculpture and Mold Maker. He invented and discovered many of the techniques used today. He was the master mold maker for Bergamot Brass a company, just down the street from me, that became famous for it's elaborate belt buckles. I showed my friend Ralph what I needed and he went to work on the first mold. I'm including some pictures of our first mold and casts. The pictures show what figures we'll be working on to start. The little white figures are going to be kiln fired while the other will be composition.
The big Green Blob is the elastic mold. From that mold we will be making the Slip Mold for the potter. The smallest of features shows up on the resin figure perfectly. Almost to perfect? I'm going to have to mark these as reproductions because I think when I'm finished there might not be a way to tell the difference? We'll see... I have a couple of potters looking and composition/clay to try and match the originals in weight and texture of the composition pieces. The Porcelain figures will be slip cast and kiln fired. Let me know what figures we might need to add to this list of characters. I know I'm missing the little Girl, The Nun, The Pug Nose Dog, the large Priest... Now I will have to find someone with steady hands for painting. I used to be able to write in 5 point type my my age brought on Essential Tremors and my hand is a little shaky, But it does calm down after a couple of glasses of wine! LOL

Very nice Pete. Got any ideas how much these are going to cost?

pete...

they really do look authentic!...once painted, with a "vintage touch", i would say that only a "trained eye" could tell they were reproductions...
