Hello All:
I was toying with trying my hand at making my own gold cello windows.
I have a method in mind. I'm looking for a source for some acetate similar in thickness to
the windows Papa Ted sells.
I can find thinner cellophane but need something thicker for my method to work.
Any sources out there.

Re: Cello windows
good morning...
i just bought an 18 x 24 inch sheet of red acetate at my local "over-priced art supply store"...it's the thickness you want and the color is right...trust me...
you might try an art supply store in your city and see if they have...
e-mail me your mailing address...(direct...not on this forum page)...i'll send you a sample...and if you can't find locally, i'll look into buying and mailing to you...no mark-up...just whatever actual cost is...
my very best regards...

Re: Cello windows
How exciting make your windows!! I love using Ted’s windows and I have also used velum for my windows, but now you have me thinking maybe I should try the acetate sheets in place of the velum… what would be a good thickness? Thanks!!
Re: Cello windows
I use "transparency" sheets - the kind that go into overhead projector presentations.
Re: Cello windows
I did find some red acetate sheets that I ordered, (could not find any locally). But it is to thin so I had to use 2 sheets to achieve the right thickness. Howard you mentioned you found the perfect thickness. Do you know of any on-line source that I could order from or the gauge I could search for?
Thanks for helping!

Re: Cello windows
I'm very interested in the technique and sources for materials, as well.

Re: Cello windows
Thanks Howard, just ordered some!!
Re: Cello windows
All well and good BUT you can get genuine cellophane and it is far easier to use and cheaper and is original though admittedly it is likely to self destruct over time, but of course we don't know what the acetate plastic will do in another 50 years either. The acetate plastic called Tenite that was used to make promotional model cars that were given or sold though automobile dealers DID warp BADLY over time. Heat was the main factor but they almost ALL did this. Just try and find a 49 Studebaker promo model that is straight! Not likely. So All I am saying is that we are ASSUMING that the acetate plastics are more durable but the evidence doesn't support that. REMEMBER ASSUMING IS NOT PART OF THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD!
