Small Castle Series...

greetings to all...

i've been in sort of a creative slump...but think i've found my way out...and it starts here...

a short while ago, our friend, maria, sent me a series of photos of some small castles...and i knew i had to build them...my little glitter house versions are not exact copies of the ones she has in her collection...they're just my interpretations...i know there will be at least four different ones...perhaps more...

the first one is ready for primer, paint, glitter and details...the pattern is also below...i hope you'll build along with me...and feel free to post the castles you build from these patterns...

my very best regards...

howard...

note...all the pieces are shown or detailed in the pattern except for the hexagonal roof...i made mine to fit snugly inside the six walls...i had to make a couple to get a good fit...so don't fret if you have to make more than one...

I love this Howard, and I am immediately inspired to make it a candy container! To be continued...

I think you will especially like the third castle in the series...but don’t let me stop you from making any candy box version...and I hope you’ll post it for all to enjoy...

update...7-26-2020...

greetings to all...here is the finished product...castle one in the series...i'll let the photo tell the story except for this...

i used foil windows in the tower windows rather than putting in a light hole between the main part and the tower...sometimes light does not reflect enough to make it into small spaces like the tall, narrow tower...

just in case you are wondering...the colors i chose are antique white for the body and tower...emperor's gold metallic for the roof, spire and fence...went with a gold tree for a change from the usual green one...

i'm still in the hunt for some small, plastic vintage angles playing musical instruments like Maria displays with her castle collection...got my eye on a few but haven't ordered them yet...then again...might make a series of "flatties"...that's probably what i'll do...

stay tuned...another castle in the series will be posted in the near future...perhaps a week or so...

Very different treatment, Howard! I love all the sparkle! You've inspired me once again to get back to my crafting room.

update...7-27-2020...

here is castle number two in the small castle series...it's shown here in raw cardboard...(excuse the odd angle and fuzzy image -- it's a long story... )...the pattern is in the PDF below the castle image...a picture of the finished castle will be posted in a week or so...stay tuned...

Beautiful effects with the metallics.

My eyes are not as good as they used to be, did you use glitter or mica on the castle?

just used my usual, old standby finish...glitter from either hobby lobby or michael's...(which ever is on sale  )...with a hint of mica flakes...hasn't failed me yet...
