North Pole Village - My 2021 Project

Here's a place to post patterns you want to share, link to patterns you find elsewhere on the internet, and request particular kinds of patterns you're looking for. I've moved a few existing messages here to get the forum started.

North Pole Village - My 2021 Project

Post by sjleeds »

Hey All,

I came across an image in my IG feed of a dish towel that Target sold during the 2019 season. I wanted to turn it into a series display for Christmas 2021 and share the patterns and journey here.

I will be adding two types of patterns here on a fairly regular basis until all 13 buildings are posted. The normal PDF pattern you're accustomed to seeing plus an SVG pattern for use in Cricut or Silhouette machines. I left fencing and windows up to the individual builders.

Thank you to the ladies in our Facebook group who helped me work though getting the CAD drawings formatted for SVG export and for all the testing they did to get us here. Couldn't have done it without you.

Enjoy,
Steven

Howard,

You're welcome. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with them.

Everyone,

Feel free to add on to this thread if you're working on them. I'm not territorial with my posts. :D

Once my eye heals more, I'll have to give yours a go.

Can you tell me what you use to make your patterns?

I use a freeware CAd program. But always looking for something new.

I use QCAD for the patterns. I paid the $49.00 for the Pro version so I could do the SVG exports. If you're not going to be doing SVG files, the free version is all you need. PDF exporting is included in the free version. I find with most of the CD programs the learning curve is always in getting your workspace setup to mimic the 8.5x11 sheets. Let me know if you want to try out QCAD and I'll send you the template for the workspace I use.
