Best place to buy cardboard houses...

I'm new here, and delighted to be a part of the forum. I've been on Ebay the past week, and there really isn't much available that I can find in terms of vintage houses. Any thoughts as to good times of years vs slower times in this category? In addition, what words do you enter in the search engine on Ebay to yield the most responses?

Looking forward to adding to my small collection, and really hoping to find some treasures.

Jack

Try EBAY Canada--they just seem to have more vintage houses

I use the keyword phrases like

cardboard christmas house
paper mache christmas house
retro christmas house
vintage putz house
vintage putz church
made in Japan putz

Certainly not opposed to buying new houses. I have been perusing Howard's site in the last day, and hoping to buy a few of his.

Jack,
I am new here also but I wanted to post to let you know that I found a treasure chest of houses at HomeGoods a few weeks ago. They are newer but nostalgic looking and use LED lights but some of them have great detailing. They were also relatively cheap, even the large houses were only around $17 (much more affordable than the Bethany Lowe houses I have been oggling!)

TJMax and Marshalls (owned by the same parent company) have also had a few in stock, but not nearly the selection and not as detailed. The houses I found are sold under the name Chestnut Lane (really great detailing using corrugated cardboard) and Sugar Plum Dreams (pastels and lots of glitter but not as detailed or high of quality). I haven't been able to find either brand on sale anywhere online--if someone finds them, please post--I really wish I had gotten a few of the smaller sized ones.

I know the ones I originally saw at HomeGoods were selling fast--probably because they were under $20 a piece. (I only got 4 of them. :() If anyone is interested I can post what I got. I went for the larger ones (O-gage) size since I haven't ever seen them at an affordable price like that and I husband limited me to 3 of them--Mom is buying me another for Christmas.

Jill
