good morning...

tom...what did you use for texture on the base?...pete's coconut?...dyed sawdust?...

i like the yellow base...a nice visual change from all white...especially with the pink and purple of the house...

new silver mulls in windows are perfect, too...

my very best regards...howard...

for the base I painted it with a light lime green paint as that is what was there originally. I then put a bright yellow version of Pete's coconut on it. This was originally the combination that was used but the coconut had deteriorated into an almost unidentifiable shade of yellow tan. I think this is closer to what it may have originally looked like. In restoring these houses I have learned to take into consideration Japanese sensibilities regarding their color sense. In reality it is much greener in person than the photos show.

Looks great. Great job restoring the damaged base, too. How tall is this thing anyway?

It is a real big one. The base is 9" x 5 1/2" and is just a scoch under 7"

Beautiful work Tom...I never thought this house would be a part of my Putz. My thanks for giving it new life! The colors are what prompted me to buy it and you have done a great job of keeping it "original."
