Good morning…

I’ve made a few “lackkie” pieces before…a railroad crossing shanty, small house and large train terminal to name a few…now it’s time to build another…

The major pieces are shown below…a main body, porch and raised porch floor…the rest of the parts will be measured from these three and cut to fit as required…

My version will not have the set back door detail…but will have the big columns and covered entry…

Base will be 3 /4” high by about 5 1/2” by 7 1 /2”…finished height including base will be roughly 5 1 /2”…

good afternoon...

finished most of the cardboard work...pieces are not all glued in place yet...just arranged for this pix...

the base and fence are next...some pix when finished...

i scored the lines of the shingle pattern with the edge of a small screwdriver guided by a ruler after i drew the pattern...

more about the project later...primer, paint, assembly, windows, doors, etc...

Awesome!! What great details! I've been meaning to ask you what type of chipboard you use. It looks like pretty strong material. I love how sturdy your houses are, I know alot of that is your design, but the walls look really strong! I've been getting the strongest type of scrapbooking stock they have at the hobby store, but I want to find somewhere to order in bulk. I saw some acutions on ebay for several sheets but it's hard to tell how thick it is from the pics.

regarding chipboard...

i used a lot of writing tablet backs...but needed more chipboard than i could salvage...now i buy sheets that are about 30" x 40" from hobby lobby...you'll find the sheets in or near the picture framing department...

i cut in half and prime one side with whatever light color interior wall paint i have...doesn't really matter the color...sure makes it easier to see pencil lines...and gives me a little head start on the finishing...

i had a source for some very hard finish chipboard...but the source may dry up soon...the sheets were those interlocking, finger joint dividers in shipping boxes...

i still use corrugated cardboard, cereal boxes, card stock, file folders, scrap booking paper, salvaged express type shipping boxes...

Thanks for sharing!!! I really appreciate it, those scrapbooking sheets are around $.50 a piece which seems a little high for a blank piece of cardboard. I'm going to check for that next time Im at the hobby store. Hope your source doesn't dry up on the hard stuff!
Thats neat you prime it before starting, I can see how that helps greatly!
