"clang, clang, clang" went the trolley...or streetcar...

greetings to all...

i don't know if it's a trolley or a streetcar...but i "blame this project on our friend, maria"...

here's a first sketch of my next project...it was inspired by several different toy streetcar and trolley drawings i have been saving...many of which maria has posted on her blog over the years...

as always this initial sketch is subject to change as i build...i'll be posting patterns and photos as usual...looks like i'll also have to make a "motorman flattie"...and possibly a few people waiting to board...

there won't be any actual tracks...just a suggestion of tracks in the snow...hopefully some silhouettes of people in the windows...

my very best regards...howard...

If it has the pole to get electricity from above it's a trolley, even if it has rubber tires and doesn't go on rails. If it has wheels and goes on rails in the street it's a streetcar, which includes horse-drawn, steam-powered, electrically powered through a conductor buried under a slot in the road beneath the rails. . . . Does that help? :-)

Venn diagram time. :-)

paul...i had to look up "venn diagram"...but recognized it right away...just couldn't remember what it was called...yes...it's a trolley...

now...patterns for the major parts...see below...additional patterns for the base and wheels will be posted after the body is assembled...

i hope to post a few pix of the cut out parts later today...and possibly the assembly progress...

my very best regards...howard...

GREAT START! That much would have taken me a week. Thanks for keeping us in the loop,

Paul

Must mean the shop is back in order.
Another project underway.

Will light shine thru the greeting sign on the side?

Yes...shop purge, interior repaint and refresh is 99% finished...i have some touch up to do...but have to wait for the anti-skid floor paint to dry...

About the illuminated sign space on the side...probably not this time...but I did make a note on my pattern...

My very best regards...Howard...

good afternoon...

making progress...i'll let the pictures tell the story...just two notes...

i added pieces of matchsticks to the inside of the walls to support the body when it is placed on the base and wheel assembly...patterns and pictures of these next week...

also i made the wood part of the clear story a little thicker than 1/4"...not that that really matters...

my very best regards...howard...
