Since cardboard Christmas houses have experienced a resurgence of popularity, many fans have tried making their own. Some projects are ways of owning a piece that is too rare to collect. Others are ways of building one’s own home into the Christmas village.
As proprietor of BIGIndoorTrains.com, Paul Race had been providing printed patterns for model railroaders to use in building construction, when he was contacted by a fellow who wanted to use Paul’s stained glass window in a cardboard cathedral. Paul was so impressed by the quality of Howard’s cardboard putz house projects that he joined forces with him to create numerous “how-to” building projects for his readers, and eventually for Howard’s.
