Lackkie reproduction project...the "primary colors house"...

Here's a place to post patterns you want to share, link to patterns you find elsewhere on the internet, and request particular kinds of patterns you're looking for. I've moved a few existing messages here to get the forum started.

Lackkie reproduction project...the "primary colors house"...

Post by Howard »

greetings to all...

earlier this month, our friend, "PutzinVT" (Steve) posted a "lackkie" from an online auction site...i'm not an auction bidder or buyer...but knew i had to build my version...those primary colors just jumped out and grabbed my attention...

here's a picture of the vintage original and my work-in-progress project...i'm still polishing up the patterns...and will post in a week or so...the fence opening on my base is wider than the original so it shows more of the front of the house...the rest of the build follows as close as i could estimate based on the pictures of the vintage original...it's not a 100% perfect reproduction...but it's close...

since this photo was taken i've added the curved canopy over the front door...the paint shop for two coats of white primer is the next step...

my very best regards...

howard...

Greetings to all…

This house project is finally finished…it’s all "bright and shiny" with two coats of high gloss Min-Wax polyacyclic finish over craft paint…I recommend a soft, water color type brush to apply the final finish rather than a stiff, bristle brush…

I knew I needed a figurine for the yard…but it had to be something special in just the right colors to contrast with the house…and I think you’ll agree that I made the right choice!…one of Pete’s reproduction figurines…I choose the CD#4 “Terrier Dog”…

All of the figurines Pete has available are show and detailed here on the forum in the “Figurines for Putzes” section…(you can also contact him at oehmen@sbcglobal.net)…

I believe that both Brian and JCass (John) have painted and posted their versions of Pete‘s “Terrier Dog” figurine…mine is similar…but with a different final finish…

Here's how I prepared, painted and finished my dog...

Removed "flash" and "mold lines" with Xacto knife...Washed with mild soap and water...Mounted on bamboo skewer painting stick...(drill small hole in bottom...insert skewer with craft glue on tip)...Sprayed two light coats of flat white paint...Painted body and details with craft paint...Applied two coats of MinWax clear gloss polyacrylic...

Now…it’s on to another little house project…

My very best regards…Howard…
