I thought I keep everyone up dated on the replacement figure project. I've included some photos of the new Master Castings. From these we'll be creating the slip molds (see last photo). As far as I can tell there are two types of materials that these figures are made of. PORCELAIN, mostly for the Hacienda Style house. FIRED CLAY or maybe PRESSED COMPOSITION. I'll learn as I go, a couple of figures are going to have to sacrifice their lives! :-) I found a local potter that may be able to work with. Here's a list of some of what I know is out there: PORCELAIN
1. Santa (alone)
2. Santa on Skis
3. Santa on Reindeer
4. Santa on Bench
5. Santa with Dog
6. Santa in Sleigh
7. Snowman
8. Little Girl

CLAY/COMPOSITION
1. Santa size #1
2. Santa size #2
3. Santa size #3
4. Priest size #1
5. Priest Size #2
6. Dog (sitting)
7. Dog (standing)
8. Car

Pete...

your reproductions are 100% spot-on!...I think I said it before...but will nevertheless repeat it again..."when painted with the right touch, it will be impossible to tell them from an original"...

the classic standing Santa, with the sack on his back, will be your best seller I'm sure!...

my very best regards...Howard...

They're looking great Pete. I hope your knee surgery went well and you're progressing well.

Pete, these pieces are wonderful. You can tell a lot of time went into making the molds. I can't wait to place an order.

I also hope you are doing well after your surgery.

Hello Fellow hobbyists, Here are the latest results on the replacement figures. I'm having the hardest time finding a local potter that wants to work with me. They're all artists these days, don't ya know and don't have the time. Eight years ago you couldn't walk down the street without tripping over a ceramic shop. Anyway, for the time being I'm casting in resin. The molds we made have every flaw that the originals did so I know we have the fine detail. I practiced painting one of the figures and it turned out well (see photos). The far right resin Santa is size #2. The figure second from the right is the unpainted resin figure. The third from the right is the original while the fourth from the right was my first practice paint job. Not to bad except my "Essential Tremors" prevents me from placing to two eye dots and the one mouth dot! LOL I had my wife try it with her steady hand but she's the first to admit that she has NO artistic skill not even at placing a little black dot in it's correct position. The first picture from the left is an unpainted resin Santa and the second one from the left is the original. I've gone so far as to epoxy in the wires leaving them longer so the customer can cut it to their desired length. I haven't cast all the figures yet. I'll be waiting for feedback to see if there's a market and if so what's a fair price to ask? I know I've had a fellow collector tell me she'd paint them for me or I could sell them and let the customer paint them themselves?

They're looking good Pete. I would think there would be a decent market for them, but I'm not sure how you would find that out. And pricing ???????
