I've finished painting a few of Pete's figurines

What kind of figures have been used with cardboard Christmas houses and villages, where do you get appropriate figures today, how do you make, prepair, repair or otherwise maintain figures?

I've finished painting a few of Pete's figurines

Post by Howard »

Greetings to all...

First picture...the "terrier" and "girl with doll" are the two i just finished...the "boy" was one Pete sent which was pre-painted...the "Large Santa" was one I painted a few years back...since I use the figurines for photography, and not permanently attached to a house base, I added a round cardboard disk base to each...a coat of fine grain German glass glitter was also applied the disk base...

One more thing...I added a couple of coats of high gloss poly-acrylic finish on the figurines...I know a flat finish is more traditional, but I personally like the look of fired porcelain...

Second picture...here are the other two "Santa" figurines I bought from Pete...a small hole is drilled into the figurine bottom...a short length of bamboo skewer and a cardboard disk is attached with epoxy cement......then it's off to the paint shop...note...the bamboo skewer acts as a paint handle, too...they'll be trimmed flush with the base when finished...

Speaking of detail painting...

Here are ten brushes I purchased at Walmart for about $5.00...that's only 50-cents a brush...a very, very competitive price...they are now my "go to" brushes for painting flatties and figurines...

Note...the online picture on the Walmart website may be a little different...perhaps it's just new packaging...but I think you can find them based on the bar code and description...

I'm very impressed how these very inexpensive brushes hole their fine points even when loaded with paint...
