2024 (January) HOLY FAMILY NATIVITY FLATTIE

What kind of figures have been used with cardboard Christmas houses and villages, where do you get appropriate figures today, how do you make, prepair, repair or otherwise maintain figures?

2024 (January) HOLY FAMILY NATIVITY FLATTIE

Post by Howard »

Greetings to all…

I needed a holy family that would fit in a small place…an internet shopping trip didn’t help…so I made a “flattie”…

The pattern is in the PDF below the work-in-progress photos…

Steps in and materials for making “flatties” have been posted many times within "Figures for Putzes and Candy Boxes"

The first photo is of the three figures after being cutout, layered details glued in place and two coats of primer…the staff is paper clip wire…

The second photo shows how the pieces will be assembled after they are painted…they’re not glued in place yet…just placed for the photo…

The painted and assembled figures will be glued onto a simple base with a back brace…

I’ll post a picture of the completed “flattie” later…stay tuned…

Howard…

UPDATE...01/20/2024...

Here is the finished holy family "flattie" in a stable I recently completed...this photo gives you a "sneak peek" at the stable project I'll post in early February...it's my version of the classic wood grained cardboard one I feel certain many of the followers of the forum will remember...it's actually a one-piece folder...and I'll show you how to easily replicate the wood gran...so, stay tuned...

My very best regards...

Howard...

Howard, I love this! When I was a child we had one of the cardboard mangers. The figures were chalkware and glued down. It made me crazy I couldn't reach in and move them around....

Regards,
