First time I've ever used Cardboardchristmas.com. I just uploaded three pictures of a very unique church. I hope I'm doing this correctly. Dianne

Thought I'd share photos of this church that I bought on eBay years ago. It never had a base. When displaying it in my wee village, I put it on a base that doesn't quite match just because I prefer it that way.

What's interesting is that the bottom of the church is marked "Made in Japan". The two square sections on the bottom where you see the small holes will open up like a box top, but are not removable.

Cool Church! Thanks for sharing! How unique, the door looks like the typical pre-war door too, only they forgot or intentionally left off the blue print plate.
Love the silver on the single face board!
Is that coco mixed in with sand on the main finish of the house, or a multi-colored sand?
Thanks again for posting!!

Dianne, I have always admired this church with it's distinct details. The colors to me are rich with warmth. If it had a base we probably would have never seen the unique bottom! Thanks for the close up photos.

Dianne, thanks for posting. That almost looks like it was made to not have a base. Collectors, do you have anything similar?

Brian look carefully again the green frames of the doors are there but very light. I believe that sometimes they were just printed that way and other may have faded. I have seen this house and handled it and can assure everyone this is nearly a UNIQUE building. It was designed to NOT have a base hence the Made in JAPAN stamped on the bottom. I am surprised no one has mentioned the removeable steeple is a GOLDSTONE or copper glass glitter. I think this is a fairly early church given it's Lacquie type finish on the roofs. The orange is NOT any part of coconut and is some sort of gritty stuff. I.E. sand, Shell, or perhaps fish scales in some instances. (I found a perfect fish scale stuck to the "yard" of the base of one of my houses and ground up could give a bit of sparkle which was the whole point of most of the finishes.)

FISH SCALE!! Awesome, I hope you left it on there! :)

It was hard to tell, but I'm not surprised they just printed it differently...so many variations. I'll have to add that to my list of doors to recreate. Im starting to fall behind.
