Here's an interesting house on eBay Feb. 22, 2014

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Set-of-3-Large- ... 3cdcd868f3

The roof is wrinkly, as though they compressed tissue paper then stretched it out, glued it down, and painted over it so it would hold its shape. No glitter or mica that I can see. "Stucco" on the walls, sawdust on the roof.

You don't usually see a ramp up to the doorway, either. Not to mention the blue that borders on aquamarine.

Hey Paul,
I actually have two of these in my collection. The wrinkles are tin foil. Im pretty sure this house has been repainted and somebody painted over the foil. I like these a lot out of all the later houses because they were a little bit larger, and the foil is pretty. Mine have cotton tops on them, this one looks like it has coconut.

Painted-over coconut wouldn't be shiny. I wondered about the colors. Thanks for jumping in. If you have any photos of yours, I'd love to see them. Yes, I know most of them are in storage for a while.

I was looking for pics of mine last night...of course I don't have any close ups. If I get a chance I will try to dig them out and snap some pics. I thought it was weird, I was looking at photos of my villages from the past 8 - 10 years and for the most part I always unknowingly put the houses in the same place in my layout which is weird because I try to move a few key elements around to avoid repetition. The one with blue foil on the left and the one with red foil on the right...apparently some part of me thinks they look best in those spots. :)

I noticed on the right edge of the roof on this photo you can actually see the light blue tinfoil peak out through the paint.

I second Brian's observations. This indeed has been repainted and it IS a foil roof - light blue foil. It is a 1950's house and I call it my Easter house so maybe I should get it out soon! My personal opinion is the original is prettier than this one. I cannot remember but think it may be a cotton topper. Tom

Tom, If it's a cotton top, I'd love to see it.
