Maria,
Thank you so much for posting this. You solved a major problem for me. I am going to make that Santa Cuckoo clock for a little boy who likes my houses. I was having trouble deciding what to make and you totally gave me the inspiration. Thank you.

I love all your putz displays, so beautiful.
Lucy

Here they are side by side
Howard's interpretation--there's a drawer in the back for an led light
it doesn't play music
the felt one does--Santa spins--vintage made in japan

Thanks, Maria, for sharing pics of your displays and for all you do to move this hobby into the future.

And thanks to Lucy also for sharing the appreciation of vintage Christmas goodies with a child. I am sure he will love the clock you make for him. We can hope he will share his enthusiasm with others his age so another generation will treasure these fragile creations from the past.

When I was a kid, a dear family friend had a few small putz houses (probably hacienda style) she would put on top of her piano each year at Christmas. This would have been in the mid-1970s. I had never seen such wonderful little houses. But as kids will do, I had to poke a finger through a plastic film window. Gladys would have never said anything to me about it even if she saw me do it. It took many years and the internet for me to learn more about putz houses and villages.
