Post subject:  Putz in a Mason Jar

Hi - I am new to this forum. I have been reading up on houses, repair and displays and thought I would share this with you. I made this for my daughter who is the queen of mason jars. I found a vintage mason jar with a Christmas tree in it. It was nice but it needed some bling so I added 4 scenes I thought my daughter would like (deer in the woods, a PA stone bank barn, a red truck with a tree and a log cabin).

The jar opening was too small for my hand so I used BBQ skewers to position the scenes. I found a small (very small) Santa with 8 reindeer and glued him to the tree. Then I added a fairy light string to the scenes and village. The battery pack and timer tucks into the mason jar cap. Assembling it took the patience of a saint (something I don't possess) but I was determined to make it work. Here are a few pictures. Enjoy.

You did such a great job on this little vignette. I love the way you positioned everything - and with a barbecue skewer no less. Very impressive.

So beautiful and impressive. I imagine it was similar to trying to build a ship in a bottle.

I have never made a ship in a bottle but I think the ships are collapsible so they can get through the small bottle opening. I just had to make sure the houses and scenes fit through the jar opening and then fit at the bottom when in position. I have to fit them several times ti get it right. The last time I strung the lights through the scenes and dropped them in with the wire. It worked with no problems and minimal cursing on my part. I was temped to grease my hand and get it in there but I was worried about not getting it out and having to explain what this was all about to an emergency room doctor!!!

As a side note - I bought 3 more jars!!! 1 large and 2 small. Looking on Pinterest for some ideas.

These are what I use for tight fit situations. To prevent "bruising", I wrap the tips with electrical tape. https://www.amazon.com/304-Stainless-Tw ... 5516&psc=1
