Hi guys--and so it has begun--the most wonderful time of the year. In addition to my big tree in the family room, I love to do smaller themed trees and putz villages. Here are two photos from my dining room feather tree--the theme of which has been "Brooklyn" at the turn of the century for the last few years...or at least as I interpret it!

This feather tree is always in the dining room and contains many antique and vintage ornaments collected over the years--largely from tag sales. The "brownstone" is either a Fisher Price or a Playskool house that was repurposed/trash-bashed with layers of sand and paint; the green putz houses are by Howard Lamey of littleglitterhouses.com; the deer are vintage made in Japan; the spun cotton girls are vintage German; the ice truck is an antique toy. The brown truck was a plastic made in China toy transformed with layers of paint, sand and glitter--because it had good bones....The other items are vintage--the top of the little brown church on the right is one I made a long time ago time ago. The little china girl with gold accents is a Lefton piece. This year I left the bridge out....

I think--with all the crap going on in the world lately--that we "Christmas people" are very fortunate to have such things in our lives--a temporary escape...a happy place---

Thanks for sharing. That's a great collection of blown glass ornaments on the tree, too!

Great little display. Wish I had a better shot of your little brown church. The name and idea of it is intriguing.

That is Brooklyn? I thought it was a city borough??? But what do I know - I live in the hole of the donut! LOL

At the turn of the century...Brooklyn had a little city area of brownstones but literally a stone's throw away were grand old houses.....mainly Victorian. Howard's houses remind me of the mansions that were found in the Avenue D area where I lived for a few years; it was like living in another time and space--though admittedly they were quite run down in the 60's and the 70's and even worse now....
