Hello, everybody. I hope you are doing well. I thought I would post the idea for my next house here. It's based on a real house in the town where I live. It's called the Wilkins House. It will be the first house of the Habitat for Humanity series this year. I need a really special one to start things off for this year. I figure it will draw more attention at the auction. This 750-ton house was moved 3 years ago from its original site because a developer bought the property to build an assisted living facility so the house has been in the news recently and has been beautifully restored. It's also in a very prominent place in the city. These photos are from the early 1900s. I'm planning on simplifying the house a lot - I don't think I can do the near architectural accuracy that Howard has done on some of his commissioned houses (which is one reason I won't do commissions). For one thing the real house is a square box with a shallow hipped roof with a flat space on top. I'm going to modify the structure to a rectangle with the hip roof meeting in the middle behind the gable in the front. I think the rectangle will look better on a putz house - not so much wasted space. It's primarily the front piece that you see anyway. Well, that's what I'm working on now. I hope you have a wonderful new year. Take care of yourselves. We need your generous creativity and kind spirits. Lucy https://withglueandglitter.blogspot.com ... bitat.html

It looks very interesting Lucy. I'll enjoy watching your progress and how you interpret this into a Putz house. |
