I have been referring to this as the black house when the truth is it’s really one of a collection of five or, maybe more that Pete lovely calls the Twister Sisters. The house sites on a 30 degree angle which makes for some pretty interesting roof and porch cuts. The original was made around the 1930’s. It’s 6 inches wide, 3-9/16 inches deep and stands 4-5/8 inches tall. It’s all coconut, except the chimney and porch are gravel; I added fine cut black cut glass, but I’m not sure if that’s what the original was made with.

You will notice the light hole is actually on the side of the house not the back like so many are.
This was my first raffia fence, I used what I had but I will get something a bit darker in color so the snow will show up a bit better. Thanks Barb, I followed your directions and pictures. I couldn’t have done it without these.

Thanks Pete for the coconut, windows, snowman, and the measurements! On the subject of the snowman I felt kind of bad giving him a frown. I like to think he or maybe she is sad because the kids have gone inside for the night…but when the sun returns she will once again have a smile.

I am uploading an original picture of the house and a few more pictures then usual but I wanted to show the angles.

Oh man, this is an incredible house. I didn't realize how distorted it was. I've seen in on Pinterest, but I never realized the construction challenges.

Thanks for posting all the pictures for it too.
Nice build.

Amazing when it's fresh coco and not old and faded.

Awesome Job Lynn, I love this house as well. I'm lucky to have an original, but my favorite version has the pink foil roof instead of red coco(which I don't have). I did a repo of this one too a while back and made it with the pink foil.
Also your raffia fence is outta the park!! :)

Thanks everyone!

Brian, When I first started this house it was going to have the pink foil roof, with the pink around the base, but I changed my mind to the first one I saw and fell in love with.

It turned out marvelously Lynn. Bravo on the raffia fence - I haven’t tried one yet. I know it was a tricky one, but the finished house is just lovely.
