Here is a house I've been working on for the past few weeks. I call it the Faded Mansion because it's an old Victorian house that is past its prime. It's based on a house I built 2 years ago called the Abandoned Italianate Mansion https://paperglitterglue.com/first-spooky-house-finished-for-2017/ which was inspired by a real house in Coudersport, PA.

I finally made the pattern in both PDF and SVG form. The SVG form can be used on an automatic cutting machine like a Cricut. It has taken me quite awhile to learn how to make SVG patterns. I hope it works for the people who use these machines.

Anyway, I hope you like it. It's rather large - 6.5 x 4 inches on one side and 2 inches on the right side. I made it large because of all the detail. Also I didn't glue any trees or decor on it so you could switch out decor for other seasons. https://paperglitterglue.com/make-putz-house-mansion/

P.S. yes, the tower is a little crooked, but it is a little less evident than in these photos. I can't figure out why I don't see mistakes like that until the glue is dry or until I take a photo when the house is all done.

Wow! Thanks for the SVG files. I downloaded them and put them into Design Space with no problems at all.

Did you use Adobe Illustrator to make the files? I've made a few simple ones, but nothing as elaborate as yours. Thanks again.

I use Inkscape, but I am thinking of getting Illustrator. The person who is teaching me to make files told me that Illustrator is easier.

I can make PDF and SVG files for myself with no problems. The real problem with making SVG files of little houses for someone else is making sure they understand the score lines. That is the challenge. You have to simplify the pattern as much as possible by grouping what you can so minimize the clicks to change from cut to score, but sometimes what you group makes some lines disappear. Then you have to do it over - stuff like that.

Thank you for letting me know that it uploads into Design Space correctly.

Well, the language of SVG files just baffles me, but the finished product is a delight. I remember your Italianate Mansion, and it’s neat to see how you repurposed it into another wonder. It is amazing, isn’t it, how photos end up showing what we didn’t see before. It happens to me all the time, especially with doors.

Thank you, Laurie.

Yes, SVGs are confusing, but when they work it makes cutting out the house a breeze. I kind of feel like I am cheating when I cut something out this way. I've already figured out how to simplify cutting out patterns by hand and then with the arbor press, it really wasn't that bad at all. Mostly what using an automatic cutter does is save me the time tracing the pattern and door and window placement are much more centered because I measure it accurately with the computer pattern.

All the actual construction details are exactly the same.

I am glad you like the Faded Mansion. It's kind of a fun house. My sister is already asking for it because she loves the blue color, but I think this one is to be sold for Habitat.
