I love using the flickering led tea lights. Most of the houses I make so I can pick them up & put the little led lights under them. This also works great for storing, in that I can seperate the platforms from the houses when putting them away for the next year.

I sometimes use the electric tea lights for houses--they can be very effective but you have to remember to turn them off--and buy them by the dozens from the 99 cents store.

How do you fashion your houses so you can lift them up to put them down on one of the LED lights? I thought I saw a suggestion on this site but I can't find it again.

Nan - some people use checkers to lift their houses high enough for the led lights (when the hole is on the BOTTOM of the house); they hide the checkers by spray painting them white and with cotton batting and snow flakes.

I also hide the wires with sparkling garland, usually silver or white--the cheap stuff you find in the supermarket or five and dime. see photo--I tape the wires down or use bobby pins to hold them in place if i am using a styrofoam base as is the case in this photo
